Family House, Rozzano, Milano, Italy
Program: a new house under an existing agricultural porch
Size: 300 sqm
Status: completed in 1982
The original construction, an enormous roof supported only by brick columns, was built in 1850 to provide shelter for carts and other farm equipment.
The client wanted to build a house this roof that would minimize all interference between the new and existing buildings.
The new house is built with large surfaces – brick walls, glass panes, concrete slabs – which, placed between the columns, contrasts with their regularity.
