Cafeteria I, Altes Museum, Berlin, Germany, 1993
Status: completed in 1993
The first Altes Museum’s cafeteria was designed when this building was a space for temporary exhibitions and the occasion was the german edition of the “Die Etrusker und Europa”.
Indipendent structures such a “pergola” and a “pavillion” accomodated all the installations- light, water and power- and the kitchen.
The serie of monumental windows created by Schinkel, was replicated with mirror surfaces on the facing wall, moltiplicating light and creating new perspectives.
