Exhibition “Carlo Valsecchi developing the Future”, Oratorio dei Bastardini, Bologna, Italy 2017
“Carlo Valsecchi, developing the Future”, temporary exhibition at Oratorio dei Bastardini, Bologna, Italy, 2017. The “Oratorio dei Bastardini” was a late XVIII century’s institution hosting abandoned children, established inside an early 1500’s Convent. The exhibition spaces consist in two lateral Halls and a central Chapel, all of them decorated in late XVIII century by the unfinished Gabriele Chelini’s stuccos. The concept of the exhibition design related directly to the idea that Carlo Valsecchi, an absolutely contemporary artist both for language and themes, could complete the unfinished decorative program like a 1700’s painter could have done. Consequently, we either inserted directly the photographs inside the stucco frames of the chapel, or related their location to the geometric rules of the stucco decorations and windows of the lateral Halls.
